The Einstein Telescope and ETpathfinder push technologies beyond the current state-of-the-art in a variety of fields. Within the ETpathfinder we have established an Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) to facilitate close collaboration with a variety of industry partners.
The European Commission has defined Key Enabling Technologies (KETs), which provide the basis for innovation in a range of products across all industrial sectors. Technology development for ET overlaps four of the six defined KETs, i.e.: photonics, advanced materials, nanotechnology, and advanced manufacturing technologies. Examples from the ET and ETpathfinder context include amongst others: ultra-stable lasers, low-loss thin films, high-efficiency photo-detectors, innovative coating procedures, ultra-pure silicon, innovative seismic isolation systems, advanced real-time control systems, ultra-low noise electronics, innovative production techniques for optical components, and low-vibration cooling systems.
